The principles that guide me is humility in kinship to others, the land, and our ancestors.
My approach to helping includes my focus on somatic therapy (body awareness) in connection to my cultural practices. Therapeutic approaches: Indigenous ways of knowing amongst my western therapeutic practice is influenced by: Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy.
The gift I carry is my Métis beading to address aspects of perfectionism, anxiety, and intergenerational knowledge.
My experience working with Indigenous people has been based on my work in the downtown core(s) of Winnipeg and Victoria. Where many are experiencing precarious housing, street entrenchment, long term substance use and complex mental health and trauma. I utilize values of harm reduction and recovery in an ever-flowing understanding of addictions. I also work with individuals who have experienced compounding grief, lateral violence, and a history of incarceration.

My practice is guided by compassion, relationality, and respect. I believe in holding space with gentleness and care, and I strive to honour the stories, strengths, and spirit that each person brings into the room. I’m committed to practicing in ways that are trauma-informed, culturally humble, and rooted in mutual respect.
My approach is collaborative and intuitive. I often draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), depending on what feels most supportive for the person I’m working with. I walk alongside folks as they make meaning, navigate challenges, and reconnect with their inner knowing. I believe healing is not linear, and that laughter, stillness, and truth-telling all have a place in the process. I aim to offer a space where people feel deeply seen, heard, and valued.
Some of the gifts I carry include openness, empathy, and a grounded presence. I offer a nonjudgmental space where people can show up fully as they are. I value deep listening and bring care and softness into my work. My own journey of reconnecting with my Indigenous identity also informs the way I hold space — with humility, curiosity, and care.
While I am still early in my journey of practicing within distinctly Indigenous spaces, I’ve had the honour of supporting many Indigenous individuals through my work in crisis response in Winnipeg and in my counselling practice. These experiences have been meaningful and have deepened my commitment to showing up in good ways — with care, respect, and a willingness to keep learning and unlearning.
